I tend to write something about my ambitions for the coming year — not really resolutions or even plans — just things I think I’d like to do and would probably be a good idea for one reason or another.
This year I decided to read through the last few years worth and see if there were any themes and how I’d done…
So there are some pretty clear if broad themes –
- write more
- walk more
- drink less
- travel
- public speaking +/-
- do something creative
- try not to become a hermit
It is a bit of a mixed bag success wise! I do write more, I’ve done some traveling but less than I hoped and public speaking is now (slightly) less of a nausea inducing experience.
I’m not walking or exercising anywhere near enough and after a good couple of years I was drinking a lot again in 2016. Photography and painting graf both fell by the wayside pretty much as well so creativity has been in short supply. I also went through a pretty bad spell of hermit mode again this year but maybe not as bad as it has been.
In response I have given myself some trackable, measurable targets which I will create some kind of dashboard for and hopefully that will help me do better at meeting those ambitions. We’ll see.
