Hi, I’m Matt Jukes.

The majority of my 20+ year career has been spent managing digital teams in and around public service.

Some highlights of my career:

  • Introduced web accessibility and usability testing at the Economic and Social Research Council (2001)
  • Ran project to design/build new website for Jisc (2005)
  • Conceived and delivered blog network for Jisc project teams (2007)
  • Managed project to close HERO and move appropriate content to Directgov (2008)
  • Product Manager for Tutorhub.com from initial idea to launch (2009)
  • Volunteer and writer for Mozilla – primarily supporting their Festival (2010 – 2014)
  • Organised and hosted BeBettr edtech conference (2011)
  • Introduced open source web platform for Medical Research Council centres (2012)
  • Organised and hosted Gov:West event (2012)
  • Built and launched first blog for the Medical Research Council (2013)
  • Facilitated partnership between Medical Research Council and Zooniverse and led team to select project (2013)
  • Led the project to replace the Office for National Statistics website from Discovery —> Launch (2014 – 2016)
  • Conceived and oversaw the launch of a visual storytelling platform for the Office for National Statistics (2015)
  • Launched Public Service Internet Jobs newsletter (2016)
  • Product Manager for the launch of FixMyStreet Pro for mySociety (2017)
  • Product Manager for the ‘Democratic Commons’ partnership with mySociety and Facebook (2017)
  • Launched ‘Web of Weeknotes‘ (2017)
  • Interim Executive Product Manager for the BBC Datalab team through to Alpha launch of their machine learning recommendation platform (2018)
  • Interim Head of Product Management for Essex County Council during initial COVID-19 crisis (2020)
  • Digital/Product Director for Notbinary/Foundry4 for three successful years leading to the merger of the companies into TPXImpact (2018 – 2021)
  • Head of Profession for Product Management at Department for Business and Trade (2022 – 2023)
