Weeks 31/32

I’ve been off work on a true ‘staycation’ the last couple of weeks. Stayed in Bristol, mainly stayed at home. Relaxed. Even my blood sugar and blood pressure settled down.

Tomorrow is 20 weeks since I first went into hospital. Which seems like forever ago but also like yesterday. I had a recent appointment with my lovely Diabetes Nurse and they were happy with my progress but also at pains to remind me that I need to stay vigilant – especially as they are no closer to working out what triggered the incident(s).

Went to see the new Spiderman. Brilliant. Definitely the best of the MCU/Tom Holland era and maybe number two of all of them (Maguire/Raimi’s Spidey 2 is my forever favourite.)

Watched The Devil Wears Prada 2. It was quite fun. Nothing really happens and it is mainly fan service but I enjoy most of the actors involved and everyone looks cool.

Did a few graffiti/street art walks – saw some great stuff, got a bit turned around looking for spots I’m not familiar with, got a fair few steps in and even a little bit of a tan.

Had three breakfast ‘meetings’ with Mevan, Alex and Andy. Really lovely catch-ups. I really should make the effort to catch up with people more often.

Had a remarkable beef brisket sandwich at St Nicks market and a wonderful sausage roll (and a cookie!) at the Bristol Beacon cafe.

Been thinking a lot about what I do next. I had a few offers and almost just jumped into the first familiar thing with a decent day rate…but I need to be more thoughtful. It has been a really tough year so far. Personally and professionally and I need to make better choices.

Anyway I have started the process of spinning up ‘Just Jukesie Limited’ and have worked out something resembling a proposition and a rate card so I guess now I just need to see if anybody shows any interest.

Oh and I have somehow managed to lose my pass for the office – which would usually not be a big deal but has some potential significant consequences for the Product for the People event in a month’s time. Going to be a PITA at a minimum.

I’ve bounced off a bunch of shows while I have been off work that people have been recommending.

Didn’t enjoy Star City, Widow’s Bay, Ponies or Furious. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is pretty meh (though not sure that was recommended as such!).

I’m also still not reading. Just buying more books.

Oh and my god I’m sooooooo bored of all the AI chat. Make it stop!
