Every around this time (my last pay packet of the year) I try to even out my rampant consumerism by making a few charitable donations to a rotating cast of worthy recipients. This year I am going to promote my choices on the run up to Christmas in my newsletter as well – see if it spurs anyone else to make a donation.
For the most part I am keeping it very local this year >>

1625 Independent People works with young people aged 16 to 25 in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset to prevent youth homelessness.

The South-West’s biggest Christmas homelessness project. Supporting people experiencing homelessness in Bristol throughout Christmas.

The local foodbank for the area I live, and grew up in.

The slightly odd one out – and yes I have friends there – but the fight against dangerous, online misinformation in particular is so important and when you see what is happening to Twitter it feels like the battle is only just beginning.
I think payday is Monday (I haven’t quite worked it out in this new job!) so this should balance the guilt for all the money I’ll inevitably spend on Amazon in the coming weeks!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Full Fact’s Big Give Christmas fundraising campaign launches Tuesday and allows us to double the value of any donation.
